REBECCA DAVIES

“Seeing the positive impact I had inspired me to propose a skateboard lesson program at the centre, which became fully booked by year-end.

I got into skateboarding through my dad, who would visit Rampworks in Liverpool after work. Curious, I tagged along and initially tried roller skating but quickly switched to his skateboard. I instantly loved the feeling and stuck with it, earning my own board by my 9th birthday, along with a ramp built by my dad, which fueled my passion.

I began coaching at Deeside Leisure Centre, the first indoor skatepark near me. While working with youth in various wheel sports, I discovered a natural connection and pursued a child development apprenticeship. This led to a skateboard lesson program that became fully booked, motivating me to coach independently. I’ve since completed courses with SK8 Safe and Skateboard GB, and continue to coach with a focus on empathy, drawing from my personal experiences with dyslexia and speech disorders.

Skateboard GB is pivotal in growing the sport in the UK, offering development opportunities and training for coaches and judges. As a certified coach and national judge, I contribute to nurturing skaters aiming for both national and Olympic success.

Our Values

Creativity

We believe skateboarding is a form of self-expression. We encourage skaters to get creative, develop their own unique style, and try new tricks. Whether you’re just starting or you’ve been skating for years, we foster an environment where creativity thrives.

01

Persistence & Independence

Skateboarding teaches persistence. We help our students build confidence by encouraging them to keep trying, even when they fall. Learning to problem-solve and push through challenges is key, and we also promote independence. While we provide guidance and support, we encourage skaters to have a go on their own, as we believe that’s how you learn and progress quickly. With safe falling techniques, you’ll be able to push yourself while reducing injury risk.

02

Safety

Your safety is our top priority. We teach essential safety skills, from wearing the right protective gear to learning how to fall correctly. This helps skaters of all ages feel secure while learning and pushing their limits. A safe environment is key to enjoying the fun of skateboarding.

03

Community & Inclusivity

We’re more than just a skateboarding school; we’re a community. We offer a supportive space for like-minded people of all ages to meet, make friends, and share their love for skateboarding. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, in your teens or even in your 50s, everyone is welcome here. It’s never too late to start skateboarding, and we provide a fun, safe space where people can learn together, connect, and have fun.

04

Fun & Enjoyment

Skateboarding should always be fun! While we focus on skill development and safety, we also make sure that every session is filled with enjoyment. From learning new tricks to making new friends, we aim to make the skateboarding experience exciting and rewarding for everyone.

05

Growth Mindset

We encourage all skaters to have a growth mindset, meaning they view challenges as opportunities to improve. Skateboarding teaches resilience, adaptability, and patience, which are valuable life skills beyond the board
